San Jose breast augmentation, also known as San Jose breast enlargement and augmentation mammaplasty, is a surgical procedure designed to enhance the size of the breasts using inflatable implants filled with saline. Breast augmentation may be used solely for cosmetic purposes or to reconstruct the breasts for patients with congenital deformities or those who have undergone mastectomy. The best candidate for breast augmentation is a woman who is physically healthy, realistic in her expectations, and interested in improving the size and/or shape of the breasts.

Breast augmentation may be performed with either general anesthesia or a combination of local anesthesia and sedation. There are several possible locations for the incision, including beneath the armpit (axillary), within the crease below the breast (inframammary), and around the nipple (periareolar). Once the incision is made, the breast tissue is lifted and the implant is inserted either above the chest muscle (subglandular) or beneath the chest muscle (submuscular). The implant is then filled with a saline solution to the desired size and the incisions are then closed. The procedure typically takes between one and two hours to complete.
